Discussed article on auteurism and genre theory. This is both a very useful summary and an interesting suggestion of ways in which the two can be fruitfully combined: a key text for the exam.

Brief discussion on structural auteurism.

Watched extracts from Fahrenheit 911 and DC/911 and compared the representations of Bush.

Watched first 25 mins of Sunrise and discussed it as a melodrama. Emphasised how our main case studies are all examples of arthouse melodrama.

In groups 25 mins to present the messages & values of Love + Hate. Then presented these to class. They demonstrated a good knowledge of the film unlike the essays which were terrible.

A call for a greater effort at revision with exam only 4 weeks away.
